We are glad to be part of a historical development – for the first time a Konkani novel is translated into Malayalam. ‘HAWTHAN’ (हावठण, The Kiln) in Konkani is published by the Konkani Language & Cultural Foundation, Vishwa Konkani Kendra, Mangalore, as ‘CHOOLA‘.
The renowned Konkani novelist and short story writer Sri.Mahabaleshwar Sail won the coveted ‘Vimala V Pai Vishwa Konkani Sahitya Puraskar’ for 2010 for his novel ‘हावठण‘. Its Malayalam translation is done by Dr.L.Suneetha Bai, who later won the Sahitya Akademi’s Translation Award for 2010 in Konkani for another work. ചൂള (CHOOLA) was released at a function held in Kozhikode (See report in the ‘Events’ section of this web site).
The book has 182 pages in Demy 1/8 size and is Priced at Rs.200/-
