Felicitation to Konkani writers

A Felicitation function was organized by us in association with Kerala Konkani Academy, at the Public Library Hall, Ernakulam, on 10th April 2012 (Tuesday)  at 5.00 pm. It was inaugurated by Prof.N.N.Anandan, and presided over by Sri.Payyanur Ramesh Pai. Eminent Konkani writers Sr.Damodar Mauzo (Winner of Vimala V Pai  memorial Vishwa Konkani Sahitya Puraskar 2011),  Dr.L.Suneeta Bai (Winner of Sahitya Akademi Award for Konkani Translation 2011), Sri.Saratchandra Shenoi (Winner of Dr.T.M.Pai Foundation’s Best Konkani Book Award 2011)  and Sri.P.N.Sivananda Shenoy (Winner of Kavita Trust’s Mathias Family Puraskar 2011) were felicitated during the function for their distinguished achievements. Sri.R.Bhaskar Shenoi, Dr.V.Nityanantha Bhat, Sri.A.R.Balakrishna Prabhu and Smt.Surya Asok handed over the mementos to the distinguished writers. Sri.R.Bhaskar Shenoi (Anugraha Charitable Trust), Sri.Suresh.A.Shenoi (Kerala Konkani Academy), Sri.T.R.Sadananda Bhat (Konkani Language Institute) and Sri.K.Ananda Bhat (Vyshnava Rathne) spoke on the occasion. Sri.Anand.G.Kamath welcomed the gathering while Sri.R.Rajesh Kamath proposed a vote of thanks. The Konkani short film ‘Tiffin Box’ was screened at the end of the session.

Sri.Damodar Mauzo in his speech lauded the Konkani communities of Kerala for preserving several Konkani root words  which have disappeared from today’s Konkani speakers in Goa despite migration and passing of some centuries. ‘Malayala Manorama’ daily carried this detailed report on the function :
