A Get Together was organized on 07 October 2012 at Swarna Bhavan,I.S.Press Road, Ernakulam. It started at 10.00 am with a devotional song rendered by Smt.Anitha S.Shenoy and was inaugurated by Prof.N.Ajith Kumar. It was presided over by Prof.V.Sivanantha Bhat and the Chief Guest was Sri.R.B.Kamath.
Three Konkani books were released during the occasion – AALIM by Sri. K.Purushothama Pai, ANANTU by Sri.K.Anantha Bhat and SHANKHANAD by Dr.L.Suneetha Bai. AALIM is a collection of 50 riddles with illustrations done by Cartoonist Balachandran (Balu). ANANTU is a poetic autobiography, first of its kind in Konkani language. SHANKAHANAD is a collection of 51 Konkani poems. Sri.R.S.Bhaskar, Sri.Saratchandra Shenoi and Dr.P.R.Hareendra Sarma spoke introducing the three authors and the three books. First copy of AALIM was received by Sri.Jagadeesh.S.Pai, grandson of its author Sri. K.Purushothama Pai. First copy of ANANTU was received by Sri.Balakrishna Bhat, son of its author Sri.K.Anantha Bhat. Smt.Surya Ashok received the first copy of SHANKHANAD. Sri.Payyanur Ramesh Pai introduced Cartoonist Balachandran (Balu) who rendered the nice illustrations for the riddles book AALIM making it unique contribution to children’s literature in Konkani. All the three authors and Cartoonist Balu were honoured with a Memento, and they spoke in reply to the honour and publication of their books.
Smt.Kalamandalam Sugandhi was felicitated by Sri.R.B.Kamath during the occasion for her winning of this year’s “Kalaratna” Fellowship of Kerala Sangeet Natak Akademi. Smt.Anitha S.Shenoi introduced Smt.Sugandhi, elucidating her achievements in the field of performing arts. Sri.A.S.Shenoy was also felicitated for his distinguished association with a UN program.
Sri.Anand G.Kamath welcomed the gathering and Sri.T.R.Sadananda Bhat proposed a vote of thanks. After the function a Konkani documentary film on “Shenoi Goembab” was showed to the audience.
