Invocation to the Almighty is a part of our culture. “Mookam Karoti Vaachaalam….” is a famous quote from Sanskrit, proclaiming the glory of the Lord. A simple translation of the abovesaid Sanskrit shloka has been made by the Late P.G.Kamath, who composed this as a prayer in Konkani, making it easy to sing and pleasing to ears. It is equally easy to comprehend as well. We present two different audio renditions of this composition.
The first vocal is by Sri.Muralidhar Shenoy from Kochi, and sourced from the audio cassette ‘Konkani Geet Chandrika’ produced in March 1985.
The second rendition is from none other than the great Pt. Upendra Bhatji, contained in the Audio CD ‘Konkani Geet Chandrika’ brought out in 2010.
Both renderings have a time differance of about 25 years. Muralidhara Shenoy was a collage student then and knows only karnatic. Pt.Upendra Bhat is at his best of hindustani rendering. PG Kamath is blessed by both.
