PGK’s Advice to Konkani poets

The late P.G.Kamath had done a deep search into the rich folklore in Konkani.  He was encouraged by the folk songs and grandma tales,  and was eager that the younger generation also draws inspiration from the past. Unless the writers, especially poets, study well about the heritage, proper poetry cannot come out, he felt. Looking back is only to look forward. During a Seminar held in March 1994 at Ernakulam, on Konkani Folklore of Kerala, organized by Kerala Konkani Akademi, he delivered a speech. His piece of advice to the young writers citing various glittering examples from the folk stock, and we are glad to reproduce the audio file here for the benefit of our writers :
